Where I Stand
The Principles, Values, and Commitments of Oxford Nordberg
Independent Candidate for U.S. House – Texas’ 30th District

I don’t want you to guess what I believe.
I don’t want to hide behind party labels, consultants, or poll-tested talking points.

This page exists so you know who I am, what I stand for, and how I would lead if elected to Congress.
I am running as an Independent because I believe leadership should be guided by truth, integrity, and service — not party loyalty.

My Moral Foundation

My faith is central to who I am, but I will never weaponize it or use government to force belief.
My relationship with God shapes my character, not your obligations. I believe public service should be grounded in humility, honesty, accountability, and respect for free will.

I lead from these principles:

  • Integrity — telling the truth, even when it costs me

  • Compassion — caring about people, not just policies

  • Humility — admitting when I’m wrong and learning from it

  • Courage — standing up for the vulnerable and against abuse

  • Service — leadership exists to serve, not control
I believe faith should inspire how I serve, not how I govern others.

The Value of Life (Born and Unborn)

Part A: Children Already Here

Before we talk honestly about unborn children, we must acknowledge the children already living among us:

  • Children being recruited by gangs

  • Children living in unsafe or unstable homes

  • Children of single parents with no safe place after school

  • Children who are not being loved, mentored, or protected

What I support:

  • Safe after-school and evening programs for kids and teens

  • Partnerships with churches, nonprofits, and community organizations to create safe spaces

  • Mentorship and life-skills programs that provide direction and hope

  • Early mental-health support and intervention where possible

A nation that claims to value life must protect the children who are already here.

Part B: Children in the Womb & Adoption

I believe life begins in the womb. Scripture says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”
I believe unborn children are created by God with purpose and value.
Under current Texas law, abortion is generally prohibited, with exceptions when a pregnancy poses a serious risk to the mother’s life or a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function, as defined by law.
My position goes beyond the law itself.

Protecting unborn life cannot stop at legislation alone. We must also:

  • Make adoption more affordable and accessible

  • Reduce unnecessary delays in the adoption process

  • Provide better support and counseling for birth mothers

  • Encourage churches, nonprofits, and local communities to walk alongside women and families in crisis

You cannot simply say “choose life” and then disappear.
If we are serious, we must be present before, during, and after the crisis.

Immigration & Border Policy

I believe in compassion and the rule of law. We can be both a nation of immigrants and a nation of order.
My proposed policy for long-term undocumented residents.
I support creating a structured legal pathway for undocumented individuals who were already living in the United States before a clearly defined cutoff date, which I propose as January 1, 2025, provided they:

  • Have no violent or serious criminal record

  • Have consistent employment or a documented work history

  • Are not dependent on long-term government assistance

  • Are willing to register, follow the law, and contribute

For those who meet these conditions, I would support:

  • Legal residency status (not automatic citizenship)

    • A multi-year waiting period before eligibility to vote

    • Workplace protections to prevent exploitation

    • Stability for families so children are not living in constant fear

My proposed policy for illegal crossings after the cutoff date

Under my proposal, individuals who cross the border illegally after the cutoff date should be returned to their country of origin and required to use legal entry processes.
Fixing the system itself.
Our immigration system is broken because it is slow, outdated, and poorly managed.

I support:

  • Hiring additional immigration officers and support staff

  • Digitizing and modernizing application systems

  • Reducing processing times so people are not left in legal limbo for years

We can be a nation of compassion and a nation of law.

America-First Spending: Defense, Teachers, and Police

Military Bases & Foreign Spending

I believe the United States should prioritize its own security and citizens.
If a foreign nation hosts U.S. military bases primarily for its own protection, that nation should share more of the financial responsibility.
American taxpayers should not be writing blank checks while struggling at home.

Cutting Waste, Reinvesting in People

The federal government wastes billions of dollars each year through inefficiency and poorly managed programs.
I support identifying wasteful spending and reinvesting savings into people who serve our communities, including:

  • Teachers: meaningful pay increases for high-performing educators

  • Police: competitive pay tied to accountability, training, and professionalism

  • Firefighters and First Responders: proper funding, equipment, and mental-health support

Veterans Deserve Better

Too many veterans struggle with housing, medical care, mental health, and addiction.
Gratitude is not enough.

I support:

  • Accessible housing programs for veterans who want help

  • Timely, high-quality medical and mental-health care

  • Streamlined VA processes that reduce bureaucratic delays

  • Programs focused on recovery, stability, and reintegration

If someone was willing to protect us, we must be willing to protect them.

Education Without Ideology

Education should prepare students to think, work, and live — not serve political agendas.
I support:

  • Strong standards in reading, math, science, and history

  • Teaching students how to think, not what to think

  • Keeping partisan and ideological activism out of the classroom

Our goal should be excellence, not average.

Public Safety & Community Justice

Public safety and justice are not opposites — they require each other.

I support:

  • Well-trained and accountable law enforcement

  • Community-based prevention and intervention programs

  • Fair sentencing and second chances where appropriate

  • Firm consequences for violent crime

Safe communities allow families to thrive.

My Leadership Style

I will not be a career politician.
I will not be owned by a party.
I will not say one thing at home and another in Washington.

I believe leadership means:

  • Listening before legislating

  • Explaining decisions in plain language

  • Admitting mistakes

  • Putting people over power

Plain-Language Summary

I believe:

  • Government should serve people, not control them

  • Life has value — born and unborn

  • Borders matter

  • Wasteful spending must be reduced

  • Teachers, police, veterans, and families deserve better

  • Faith should guide character, not be forced by law

If you agree with everything here — great.
If you agree with some of it — I still want your vote.
If you disagree — I still respect you.
My promise is simple: you will always know where I stand.
